Setting up is a straightforward process. Put simply, all that’s required is a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone equipped with a microphone and speakers, and a solid internet connection. Additionally, ensure that you have Skype or Zoom installed.

Certainly. Online piano students achieve great success in all areas of their studies, just like students receiving in-person lessons. Online lessons are also convenient and effective ways to study for the exams of The Royal Conservatory of Music.

Participating in live online lessons through platforms such as Skype or Zoom closely resembles the experience of in-person lessons. In these sessions, feedback on your performance is delivered in real-time, and any questions you may have are promptly addressed. Moreover, at my studio, there is ongoing support available even between lessons.

For younger children, assistance may be required in setting up their lesson, and ongoing support during the session may be necessary, particularly if the child is unfamiliar with Skype or Zoom. There are no special considerations for adult or senior students who are beginners. 

Usually, students begin their live online piano lessons around the age of seven.

To participate in lessons and ensure effective practice between sessions, it is essential to own either a piano or a five-octave electronic music keyboard.

Typical piano lessons run for about 30 minutes; however, 45- and 60-minute lessons are also available upon request.

Beginners should set aside time each day to establish a daily practice routine. Students have the option to either designate a specific practice duration or, even more effectively, establish a goal for each practice session.

The more one practices, the better the results. However, students who dedicate a minimum of 30 minutes three times a week typically experience progress.

Bach to Basics Music is my private online teaching practice. Accumulating over 25 years of experience as a full-time piano and theory teacher, I have obtained advanced certification from The Royal Conservatory of Music for teaching both piano and theory. Additionally, I have earned a certificate from the RCM specifically for teaching music online.

During your free trial lesson, we discussed what music books may be required for lessons. Most books can be purchased online or at your local music store, costing less than $40.

Usually, we try to make up the time unless there are exceptional circumstances. This is something we discuss along with studio policies if you decide to enroll after your free trial lesson.

Unfortunately, I do not offer group piano classes as of yet.
